 Potser no pensava llegir-lo tan aviat, però els fatxes de vegades t'obliguen a gastar-te uns dinerets per mostrar que existim els que no pensem com ells.

En aquest cas, el llibre l'havia de comprar com a fidel oient de Gent de Merda, comprar llibres als meus podcasters de referència, sempre em semblarà una forma de pagar la seva feina.

Aquest llibre és curtet i explica una història d'uns dies a la vida d'una jove que viu a Barcelona que ha de decidir si abandona el seu somni de viure de la música o no.

La perpexitat de Jordi Graupera

 L'u d'octubre de 2017 amb les meves dècimes de febre i entre anar a "defensar" el col·legi electoral (el meu cole de tota la vida) i tornar, mirava Euronews i els canals internacionals que tenia al satèl·lit, pensava que amb el ridícul que estava fent Espanya a nivell mundial això ho teníem guanyat i seríem independents...

En Jordi Graupera també en devia pensar que en ple segle XXI imatges com les que es van veure l'u d'octubre podien tenir conseqüències positives per la causa independentista, ell en va donar una de potent tirant-se a terra davant dels cotxes de la Guàrdia Civil amb traje i corbata, una mena de noi de Tianangmen que donés la volta al món...

En aquest llibre, autobiogràfic, ens narra els seus anys a Estats Units tot just abans de tornar a Catalunya i implicar-se en el moviment independentista.

Tots sabem com ha acabat, el tema de la independència, molts encara ho seguirant patint molts anys, l'enemic ni perdona ni oblida. Anomenen operacions de càstig amb noms com "Operació Judes".

En aquest llibre, Graupera ens explica com tot just arribat a Nova York es troba amb la celebració de la victòria d'Obama, com l'esperança s'estenia per tot arreu. El llibre acaba amb la victòria de Trump, 8 anys després, on l'esperança ha canviat de bàndol, tal com explica sobre els actes electorals que presencia a Ohio (estat clau històric).

És curiós com quan es publica aquest llibre, som en un moment que podria enmirallar-se amb aquestes 2 situacions, la il·lusió de l'u d'octubre i la victòria de PP-VOX arreu Espanya (i PSOE a nivell Catalunya, sí els del 155).

En aquest llibre a part de l'experiència vital als EEUU, també ens explica la història de la seva família, sobre els seus pares i avis, que ens situa molt bé d'on vé i perquè és com és.

Per un fill d'immigrants econòmics com jo, és interessant conèixer la història d'un fill de gent de pasta catalana, perquè en molts temes persones d'origen tant diferent hem arribat a conclusions similars en temes importants, aquells que molts veiem com obvis (Espanya sempre tractarà Catalunya com una colònia) i també hem tingut el nostre moment "si la gent veu la realitat, la gent reaccionarà", però ja sabem que no.

M'ha agradat molt el llibre.

Beyond the blue event horizon

 Some years after reading Gateway, I found out there where more books so I've read this one.

It's interesting how they find the Food Factory and the Hechee Heaven and how a boy has lived alone there talking with stored memories and being supervised by poorly developed primates.

Of course the money is the main ambition of the spacefearers but not to the boss... well he is wealthy enough to think about other things but at the end he ends richer...

Demà i demà i demà

 La història d'en Sam, la Sadie i en Marx, com d'una amistat nascuda de jugar a vídeojocs s'acaba creant una empresa que crea vídeojocs, podria ser real.

Els personatges són nascuts més o menys com jo, als 70 i per tant moltes coses de la història, m'han sonat molt properes, tot i ells ser d'Estats Units, i jo ser pobre i per tant no haver pogut accedir a tants vídeojocs com ells.

Cetaganda

 Another adventure with Miles Vorkosigan, who travels with his cousin Ivan to the funerals of the Empress of the "enemy" empire that attacked the Hegen Hub in the last book.

Here as the arrive there, they are aborded bay an unexpected attacker who loses his hand gun and a curious item in the fight and runs away.

After that... Miles finds their attacker has killed hismself just where the funeral ofrends where been sent, that makes Miles suspect that the attack is something bigger than expected.

Crónicas Vampíricas 3: La reina de los condenados

 Ya ni recuerdo cuando leí las dos entregas anteriores, de hecho salvo los nombres de Lestat, Louis y la niña vampiresa, poco recordaba de ellos.

Aún así el libro es entretenido y va hasta el origen del primer vampiro, y ¿su fin?

Seguimos la historia de Jesse, una pelirroja que ve fantasmas y en paralelo, vemos como los vampiros empiezan a tener pesadillas sobre 2 gemelas pelirrojas, la historia sucede en paralelo con el hecho de los días previos al primer concierto de Lestat El Vampiro, que con su libro y sus canciones ha sacado a la luz la existencia de los vampiros, cosa que no a gustado a algunos de ellos.

El metal perdido

 Y acabamos el año con el último libro de la segunda era de Nacidos de la Bruma.

La historia al igual que el último libro del Archivo de Tormentas, incluye muchas referencias al Cosmere y aparecen personajes de otros mundos que tienen ya importancia en el desenlace de la historia.

Aún así, tenemos a nuestros personajes de siempre Wax, Wayne, Marasi, Steris, así como los incombustibles Armonía, Marsh y Keller.

Este libro empieza 6 años después del final del anterior libro, años que no han desaprovechado los agentes del Grupo, que planean un ataque a gran escala para destruir Elendel.

El Dios Autonomía es quien maneja los hilos del Grupo y quien planea tomar el planeta para conseguir los poderes de Ruina y Conservación, actualmente en manos de Armonía.

Nuestros héroes tendrán que luchar para impedir este ataque, así como el plan B de autonomía que pretende enviar un ejército a través de Shadesmar (parece que el traductor no ha podido traducir esto o bien Brandon Sanderson ha decidido que haya algunas palabras que sean "universales" para que los que leemos los libros en diferentes idiomas no nos volvamos locos...)

En fin, un libro muy entretenido sin aburrimiento, mucha acción e incluso emotivo, sobretodo el final.

The Hallowed Hunt

 The Complete Chalion finishes here, although I have to read Penric's Daemon and more other books of the Saga, but this arrived to my hands and I enjoyed it.

Ingrey has a wolf daemon chained inside, but it gives him powers when fighting. He is sent to discover what happened in the death of prince Boleso, second heir to throne. There he finds the woman who had killed Boleso while he was going to do a daemonic rape to her and has now a leopard spirit inside that was meant for Boleso.

He lives with her some strange experiences, as trying to kill her without kwnowing why, he discovers it is because a geas that someone has implanted in his mind and with the help of Ijada and Hallana, he can get rid of it while unleashing his wolf spirit, which gives him some weird powers.

We know about their childhood, the ancient story of the people of the Weald which have been mostly killed in an ancient battle where the old powers that Ingrey has, were supposed been exterminated.

The last act takes us to the haunted forest where the last battle of the Weald was fought to finish what the magic of the old people left unfinished.

The Rithym of War

 I could not wait more to read this Stormlight Archive book, so I started it and enjoyed it.

Kaladin is depressed and is dismissed from service, just after bringing his family to Urithiru.

Shallan is struggling with her memories and seems to be growing a new personallity.

Perhaps Navani is the main character in this book, as she becomes a dedicated scholar after being retained in Urithiru in the Singer's invasion of the Tower.

We know more about Venli's history and how she tries to save the last Listeners.

Wit (Hoyd) becomes an important character for the first time in the Cosmere's books, after being present but in most of the books.

Dawnshard

More Stormlight archives... I love the cosmere, so this short novella has put me again in the need of more adventures, so I have to choose between Wax and Wayne and Kaladin... which will be the next?

Well, this one is about Rysn who can't walk, Lopen who has regrown an arm, Cord who is Rock's daughter and the new cosmere players The ones who don't sleep...

The Vor Game

 Another book about Barrayar, with Miles Vorkosigan featuring Admiral Naismith, young Miles ends his military training and is sent to a remote and paceful asignment, but unluckily finds himself involved in a situation that cannot be ignored... which ends with another enemy that will be important in the next events, where he'll have to save the Emperor and Barrayar from a unexpected attack.

Imagine the kid you bullied is an alien from outside your planet who's come to give powers to lots of humans so the humankind will destroy themselves with them (or not...). But after giving the powers instead of returning to its planet, it decides to remain watching humanity destroy themselves as he knows from his children as human experience that humankind is cruel and bad, and his nightmares are the reason that every human who gets the powers is tainted by the nightmares and makes all of them bad.

Please, if you are a bully, don't do it, save the world!

 I wanted to find a book in amazon and I bought a huge book with lots of books inside, the first was this one and I've enjoyed it a lot.

The Reckoners I: SteelHeart

 What's a summer without Brandon Sanderson? Just kidding, after this last year reading the Wheel of Time, perhaps it's not a summer issue.

As I like watching The Boyz, another story about bad superheroes could seem overloading, but the book as The Boyz is so full of action that you enjoy all the time.

In this case, the superheroes are not faking been good, they plainly are bad and are proud of it, so the world is kind of apocalyptic.

And talking about apocalypsis... our real world is living an ecological apocalypsis with droughts everywhere, heatwaves and a full set of mad polititians (some in senile state) destroying the economies of Europe, inflation is 10,8% in Spain and salaries are not adapting to it and no one is asking for so. The frog in the boiling water theory put into practice with us these last years is going to boil all of us while the musics keeps playing in the Titanic.

This book leaves behind a generation and gives the main character to Miles Vorkosigan Naysmith, the crippled children who was born in the previous book.

In this story Miles fails to enter the military due to his physical weakness, so he travels to Beta Colony to see his grandmother, with him travel Bothary and his daughter, there Miles hears an unexpected conversations in customs office and has an idea to enjoy his travel to Beta, things get everytime more surreal and in few days we find them in the middle of a civil war over a planet far from Barrayar of Beta Colony.

 Il fait quelques annés j'ai començai cette livre, mais je le retourné a la bibliotheque et je ne le pas terminé.

El meu francès està més rovellat que jo, però tenia ganes d'acabar un llibre en francés que vaig començar fa anys i que no vaig acabar. 

Je peux lire mais je veux que je ne peux pas m'expresser correctement, j'ai bessoin de étudier un peux per mieux souvenir mon français.

 Science fiction novel about a girl from a planet where people have lost their technologic knowledge, and the arrival of a man from the stars explains it all to us.

Barrayar

 The third book about Cordelia Naysmith, after her marriage to Aral Vorkosigan she goes to Aral's planet where they both want to enjoy the rest of their life pacefully and happily.

But their field retirement lasts short time, because the Emperor of Barrayar is dying and sets Aral as the regent for the son of the emperor who is five years old.

Cordelia is pregnant and they will both have to take care of themselves to not be destroyed by political schemes.

Unfeatered III

 Yes, I've not read the first and second, but I bought it to read an alternative version of some events in The Wheel of Time, I'll buy the others within time.

After years of my last Dune book read, I've been happy to find a story in that universe.

I've also discovered some fantasy tales that I've liked.

Lots of hours of good reading, for 2 euros that go to medical care for authors and their families in a poor country, where if you loose your job and/because you are ill, you'll be bankrupt and probably won't be able to afford the treatment to save your life. Year 2022... XXI'st Century.

Rincewind as always tries to not get involved but he will be the one who has to save the world again.

The Wheel of Time(14): A memory of Light

 What can I say, the end arrives and you can cry for those who died and joy for the ones that survive.

L'acció trepidant dels darrers llibres va in crecendo fins al final, no vull dir res més que agrair a en Robert Jordan per haver creat aquesta bonica història que m'ha entretingut amb moltíssimes hores de lectura.

Curiós haver llegit aquest darrer llibre just quan ha començat una guerra a Ucraïna que ha fet sortir la part més fosca del governants que hem deixat que tinguin el poder de decidir com carregar-se un dels moments més tranquils per a la ciutadania del món occidental, en fi, no tindrem un Dragon Reborn que lluiti per portar-nos la llum si nosaltres no portem la llum amb les petites coses que podem fer.

The Wheel Of Time(XIII): Towers of Midnight

 Això és un no parar, ritme trepidant, no entenc com en Robert Jordan volia posar tot això es un sol llibre, si portem 2 seguits d'acció a ritme frenètic i encara queda el darrer.

Per on anàvem? En Rand havia aconseguit la pau interior i comença un seguit de reunions amb tot Déu, Egwene, Tuon, els Borderlanders i acabem el llibre amb tothom reunit per fer una reunió sobre el trencament dels segells que mantenen a l'Obscur empressonat.

En Mat, amb en Thom i en Noal han alliberat la Moraine a un preu força car, un ull del Mat i la vida de Noal que realment és el mític Jair Farstrider, un malkieri com el Lan.

En Lan segueix el seu camí cap al seu enfrontament amb les forces del mal i va aplegant seguidors pel camí, finalment accedeix a ser el rei sense regne i el deixem lluitant contra trollocs i Myrdraals.

Egwene ha de lluitar al món dels somnis contra Mesaana i les de l'Ajah negre mentre Gawyn l'ha de salvar dels assassins Seanchan que havien quedat a la Torre Blanca després de l'atac Seanchan.

Per fi Morgase és reconeguda per algú i ja no pot amagar qui és, el seu fillastre Gallad que després d'haver portata a judici a Perrin, és salvat per Perrin i el seu exèrcit d'un atac brutal dels Trollocs.

Ah, sí també el Mat aconsegueix liquidar al monstre que el volia matar abans d'anar a alliberar la Moraine dels Aelfin i Eelfin.

I què ens queda per l'últim llibre... la batalla final. No sabem res de la reunió dels Ogier, vam deixar al Loial amb el torn de paraula.

The Wheel of Time(12): The gathering storm

 Robert Jordan va morir sense acabar la seva història, dins la desgràcia, es veu que no va ser una mort sobtada i va poder deixar en àudio la part important de com volia que acabés la seva història.

Van escollir a Brandon Sanderson per acabar la història i com a apasionat lector de les novel·les de Sanderson, va ser així com vaig decidir de començar a llegir The Wheel of Time i ara ja he arribat a les 3 darreres novel·les que són les que va escriure Sanderson.

Com que ja ens apropem al final, l'acció s'ha accelerat i passen tantes coses que fer un resum al final del llibre és complicat perquè no saps si és d'aquest llibre o ja havia passat.

Una cosa que crida l'atenció és l'spoiler que hi ha en els darrers capítols de la trama de Perrin, que per alguna raó que encara desconec (estic ja amb el següent llibre i es van barrejant històries més noves amb la trama de Perrin), amb el que he llegit del llibre 13, no veig encara la raó de no haver posat els capítols que he llegit sobre Perrin on tocaven cronològicament al llibre 12.

La qüestió és que en aquest llibre Egwene i les seves rebels aconsegueixen recuperar pacíficament la Torre Blanca (bé, just abans els Seanchan l'havien deixat feta un cristo...).

Mat s'ha casat amb la Tuon i segueixen els seus camins per separat, de fet la Tuon és qui decideix d'atacar Tar Valon, just després de no voler pactar una treva amb en Rand.

En Rand retroba al final del llibre el seu pare que vé del grup del Perrin i aquí tenim spoiler, és el moment culminant del llibre on en Rand veu la llum i troba la pau al cim de la muntanya on va morir Lews Terim.

The Wheel of Time(11): A knife of dreams

 Molta acció en aquest llibre, si no recordo malament Egwene és capturada al final de l'anterior llibre i en aquest veiem com la tracten a la Torre Blanca.

Elayne segueix intentant aconseguir al·liats per ser reina d'Andor, al final tot es precipita quan descobreix a dues germanes del Ajah negre i vol capturar-les, però qui és capturada és ella i Birgitte ha de muntar un rescat amb les Windfinders i bona part de l'exèrcit, cosa que aconsegueix i acaba amb l'atac que justament han fet contra Caemlyn.

Perrin segueix planificant i al final executa l'atac de rescat de Faile dels Shaido, al·liat amb els Seanchan i vigilant que el Profeta no li doni pel sac.

En Mat segueix el seu camí per aconseguir fugir dels Seanchan i mantenir segura a Tuon, a qui una facció Seanchan vol liquidar després que un dels Forsaken ha liquidat l'Emperatriu i tota la seva família a Seandar. Al final, la seva estratègia funciona i sorpressivament Tuon fa el ritus de matrimoni i ara estan casats.

I Rand... sempre enbolicant la troca, si s'hagués comunicat amb el Mat... no hauria perdut la mà en la trampa que Semirhage ha muntat fent-se passar per la Filla de les nou llunes.

The Wheel of Time(0): New Spring

 Prequel set 20 years before the events of the first novel.

Aquí de cop ens trobem amb unes joves Moreine i Siuan quan encara eren acceptades i neix el nou Dragó renascut... els aconteixements es tornen vertiginosos amb tot de morts innexplicables que acaben amb les nostres dues protagonistes com a Aes Sedai i buscant en secret el nen que ha nascut a les muntanyes del trencament del món... També descobrim com Lan va acabar sent el guardià de Moreine.

The Wheel of Time(10): Crossroads of Twilight

 Llibre de transició on els protagonistes van situant-se cara a les fases decisives de les seves tasques.

Mat fuig d'Abu Dar enduent-se la seva futura dona The Daughter of the Nine Moons alias lady Tuon, i alliberant tres Aes Sedai.

Perrin ha de buscar on els Shaido s'han endut la seva dona, la Faile, finalment els troba però són tants que el rescat serà difícil, així que al final sembla que haurà de buscar aliats.

Rand ha netejat amb Nynaeve la taca del Saidin i sembla que el proper moviment serà parlar amb els Seanchan. També ha rebut la visita de Logain que l'avisa que a la Torre Negra Taim està conspirant contra ell.

Elayne es troba amb un setge al voltant de Caemlyn, que no és gaire preocupant en quant a setge, ja que podent Viatjar, l'abastiment és garantit.

Egwene acaba capturada en una trampa al final del llibre, a les portes de Tar Valon.

The Wheel of Time(9): Winter's heart

 It's snowing... but the Wheel turns...

Perrin goes to the Prophet without Faile to save her from the danger, but while he's away Faile is attacked by the Shaido who take her along with Morgase.

Mat reappears alive with many bruises and a bad leg which he doesn't want to be healed with the One Power, the Seanchan rule there and he wants to scape.

Rand goes to a place like a Steading where the power cannot enter to kill the ashama'n that tried to kill him before trying to clean the Saidin with Nynaeve, and Cadsuane arrives to help him once he ask her to help.

Elayne has to prepare her claim to Andor's crown and manage the day by day which is not easy.

Wheel of Time(8): The path of daggers

 Where is Mat?

A wall felt over him in the last book and we've had no notice about him.

After taking the Illian crown, Rand knows the Seanchan are heading toward him so he attacks them before they can reach him.

After healing the weather with the Bowl of Winds, Elayne travels to Andor to claim her crown.

Egwene is stopped by the snow on her way to Caemlyn (why did they not travel?).

Perrin leads an army to reach the Prophet and submit him to Rand.

It seems at the end that Egwene decides to travel... and attack the White Tower!

Who won? We still don't know... I'll have to read the next book. 

The Wheel of Time: Crown of swords

 Life is complicated when you are Rand Al'Thor... and you make it more complicated...

The search of the bowl of winds continues with Mat, Eleyne and Nynaeve who finally mets Lan and they marry...

Moghedien escapes and finds Nynaeve and almost kills her, there's a new character which is a powerful myrdraal who is over the forsaken and gives them orders.

Perrin wants to know how Rand and Mat behave well with women... either do them...

Padan Fain almost kills Rand with the dagger that almost killed Mat.

And finally Rand attacks Sammael but the fight takes place in Shadath Logor... without having lunch after 2 days of sleep recovering from the dagger's poison.

The Wheel of Time: Lord of Chaos

 All the book waiting for Rand's attack to Sammael and... no attack and Rand is trapped in a box shielded by Aes Sedai...

Perrin returns to Rand from Two Rivers, Min returns to Rand from Altara. Egwene, Aviendha and Mat from Rand to Altara. Rand opening gates between Cahirien and Andor...

Nynaeve discovers how to un-still stilled people, and with Eleyne an artifact which can solve the drought brought by The Dark One, but the research is not completed in this book, will they find it in the next book?

The Wheel of Time: The fires of Heaven

 Well... The Waste, the Aiel, the return to the other side of the world, Telaranriod, travel, fight, game of houses...

I want more!

Blackout and All Clear by Connie Willlis

 Two books with one story: Time travel to WWII, the book is a good way to know more about the WWII seen by those who lived it in Great Britain, focusing on London, from the first bombings with planes to the V1 and V2 unmanned bombs sent from Germany.

How the people lived in the shelters, how the shops stayed opened defiant to Hitler, how the women took the responsabilities of everything at home while men were fighting in the front.

Really interesting, science fiction but based in real people who the writer interviewed to know more about what she was going to write about.

The Windup Girl

 This book won the Nebula 2010 award.

In the second year of COVID, it has been a good read to see how things can be in a few years if we are not awake enough.

The book tells the story of a corporation manager in Thailand, a "yellow card" who is a chinese refugee, a White Shirt(environment ministry police), ex tai-boxing champion who is the White Shirt's captain and a windup girl who is a new people(genetically improved human) used as sexual attraction in Bangkok.

The world by then has collapsed ecologically and plagues and virus have brought the world wars, famines and the domination of the Calory companies who control the plague resistant plants who feed the world, except in Thailand that closed it's borders and developed an internal program to feed their people successfully.

As always, political corruption leads to problems and the book is well written and you can see different points of view to understand the situation.

The Wheel of Time: The shadow rising

 Fourth book of The Wheel of Time, more action, adventures, new skills and the main characters gaining knowledge about themselves.

Rand, Moraine, Egwene and Mat go to the Three Fold Land, the aiel's homeland to check the prophecy and know if Rand is He Who comes with the dawn.

Nyeaeve and Elayne go to Tanchico trying to find the Black Ajah.

Perryn, Faile and Loial return to Two Rivers to try to save people there from the White Cloacks.

Min arrives to the White Tower and sees one of her visions which will finish with a turmoil there.

It's been a good read in the beach this first holidays' week, I haven't bring the next book here, so I'll have to wait till october to start the fifth...

After a week with no bike riding... I tried this morning the Romanyà road, but I'm not fit enough, I know in the afternoons I have more power, but it was cloudy so I tried today, I'll try again this week.

To say nothing of the dog

Second book of the historian time travelers, I liked Doomsday Book so I read the second.

A time travel to the victorian age, looking for the Bishop bird stump... and the rescue of a cat, which are stinguished by the time the time travelers in this story lived.

Well, the bird stump is found and love is in the air.

I'll read the next two books. 

A fall of moondust by Arthur C. Clark

 In time of millionaires paying to be 3 minutes in space, I was reading a novel where millionaires payed to visit the moon and sail it in a ship...

The ship is eaten by a dust sea when an moonquake takes place, so what happens in the ship and the recovery tasks are the main subject of the book.

It's a good novel and it ends... well, it ends when the travellers are rescued.

The Wheel of time: The Dragon reborn

 Addicting, all the book with new things to know and action, I couldn't stop reading... 

Rand scapes from Moraine, Moraine, Perrin, Lan and Loial try to arrive to Tear ahead of him.

The way to Tar Valon with Nyaeve, Egwene, Eleyne and Mat, once in Tar Valon, they know the Black Ajah has attacked and fled, Mat is healed from his illness and Nyaeve, Egwene and Elayne have to investigate the Black Ajah, which leds them to... Tear, they send Mat, who finds Thom to travel with him, to give a letter to Morgase, and when he delivers the letter, he finds out someone is going to Tear to kill her three friends, so there he goes.

On the way to Tear, Perrin finds Feine(Zarina) and the three girls find some Aiel who are looking for The One Who'll arrive in the Dawn.

So... at the end all of them arrive to Tear and the climax happens, Rand finds Callandor the sword only the Dragon can touch, and one of the Forsaken is waiting for him.

I have the next book in my kindle, but I've started another book, so I won't eat all The Wheel of Time in a year... :-)

Blue Mars

 The end of the trilogy, as the previous books, science, politics and humanity.

Longevity treatments seemed to be the end of death, except by accident, but the quick decline hits the first hundred and science has to come to the rescue, will it succeed. We won't know....

In this book, Mars scientists invent a new propulsion system that allows travelling so fast that moving in the solar system becomes so quick that all the system is quickly settled, and makes the intergalaxy travels posible.

In Earth overpopulation is still a problem and they see Mars as the solution, but Mars ecosystem is weak and Mars settlers will defend their planet. Politics have to work hard to solve the different interests of both planets.

Was this book an inspiration to The Expanse? It remembers me some things in both.

Una historia de policías

 Per alguna raó, l'autor va anunciar a twitter que havia rebut pressions de la policia pel que havia escrit i que posava el llibre a amazon a 1 euro, així què, per solidaritat o curiositat el vaig comprar.

La veritat és que la història se sembla tant a la realitat del que imaginem que és la policia, que no tinc ni idea si l'autor és policia, ex-policia, vigilant de seguretat o fruiter, tampoc no em preocupa ni ho penso mirar.

El resum... ostres, no puc posar el que penso... doncs res, que al final resulta que el protagonista és un pringat, que només pensa amb l'entrecuix i que acaba fent el pasarell en mans d'un company de la poli i una noieta que està boníssima i que es folla a mig poble, clar estereotip pollacèntric on els bons són els pobres bons homes que van a la perdició per culpa de dones que no estimen els homes i que els utilitzen com a màquines de follar.

Així que em quedo amb Millenium, que com a mínim castiga els fills de puta que abusen de la seva superioritat física per sotmetre les dones.

La rueda del tiempo de Robert Jordan - El despertar de los héroes

 Segon llibre dels molts que vindran, com vaig dir, volia començar amb una col·lecció de llibres que estigués acabada, per no trobar-me esperant el següent llibre anys com a Joc de Trons o El nom del vent.

Aquest segon llibre també m'ha agradat, els personatges ha seguit evolucionant, l'enemic també sembla haver evolucionat i per molt que al primer llibre, sobretot, però també al segon l'obscur insisteix en què sempre es repeteix la història, sembla que aquest cop hi haurà novetats.

Curiós també a un capítol del llibre els personatges viuen diferents versions de les seves vides, com a moltes històries de ciència ficció quan parlen dels multiversos, però en aquest cas els personatges ho recorden...

I bé, desitjant començar el tercer, però entre mig, intentaré llegir un o dos llibres, si pot ser de diferent temàtica.

 After some time I've read another Nebula winner which of course has surprised me for good.

Fiction in a world where the II World War finished different but not like the Man in the High Castle.

Chess, jews, indians, Alaska, the Mesiah... All in one book, is is a police novel? Perhaps, but well, I don't use to read police novels... since The girl with the dragon tatoo...

A jew policeman in Alaska, where the jews arrived after WW2 who is sad about his life as his wife left him some years ago, a murder in his hotel, the return of his ex-wife as his chief, his indian friend... well, I won't make the argument here, only to remember a little when I come back to this post someday.

La Rueda del tiempo de Robert Jordan: El ojo del mundo

 Si Brandon Sanderson ha escrito los últimos libros de la saga, será por algo... por lo tanto le he dado una oportunidad.

La historia de unos chicos de pueblo que se ven envueltos en una persecución por parte de semihombres, trollocs, juglares, amigos malignos, amigos benignos... en fin fantasía en estado puro.

Rand, Mat y Perrin, el maligno los ha marcado en su diana para obtener el poder que han heredado de alguna manera que no llegamos a saber al final del libro, la cuestión es que ellos vivían felices en su pueblo, pese a que el invierno de ese año parecía no acabar nunca y que cada vez las cosechas serían más escasas. Concretamente la historia comienza antes de la fiesta de Invierno que es como no un día especial para la gente del pueblo en que por un día olvidan la dura vida del campo para bailar y disfrutar con el resto de la gente del pueblo.

Pero la noche anterior a la fiesta, se presentan en la casa de Rand y en el pueblo un grupo de Trollocs y un Fado, que por poco los matan a todos, suerte que había aparecido en el pueblo una mujer muy elegante, que resulta que es una Aes Sedai con su Guardían, que salvan al pueblo de los Trollocs, Rand por su parte al ser sorprendido en casa, es salvado por su padre, que resulta que en su juventud parece que había sido un maestro espadachín, el padre queda herido, pero Rand lo consigue llevar al pueblo, donde la Aes Sedai, llamada Moreine lo salva con sus poderes, pero dice a los tres chicos que deben irse, para que los trollocs no vuelvan, y así empieza una apasionante aventura...

DiscWorld: Mort

 I can say this book has not been addictive so I took more than I expected reading it, the fact that it is the story of a boy who becomes Death's apprentice... perhaps makes it not so interesting as a magician book.

Generació Tap

 Era inevitable que com a lector de lapaginadefinitiva no em llegís aquest llibre.

Com a membre de la generació X, aquest llibre em representa i em documenta, amb coses que per haver-les viscut, les recordo i d'altres que per precisament ser la primera generació que vam tenir accés a internet mentre encara estudiàvem, no havia pogut saber perquè llavors encara la informació estava controlada pels que llavors i ara criticaven internet.

En qualsevol cas, un llibre imprescindible, ben documentat, i que com altres com el "Memorias de un ingeniero" fan veure que la nostra generació pot explicar coses que ni la generació anterior, per defecte, o la posterior, per excés, no han entés o no poden ni imaginar que fa 20 anys passaven.

Com que el tema m'agrada, aprofitaré les recomanacions que hi ha al final del llibre, per llegir més del tema.

Legion by Brandon Sanderson

 I saw my brother with this book so I thought... why not reading it?

So I started and as it is a little book, I red it quickly.

This book has an adventure but it seems an entertaining way to present the characters for a new series of books.

A man who sees imaginary people that allow him to know things he shouldn't know, he profits from the situation and lives in a big mansion. All kind of people approach him to know the source of his knowledge. In this book, he receives photos made in the past, past before the photograph machines existed, once he is interested, a woman who represents the enterprise where it was developed, visits him and tells him that the inventor of the machine has disappeared with the only working prototype with him.

So they have to discover where he has gone and then follow him to that place and find him...

Discworld: Equal rites

 No Rinzewind in this book, I liked it very much, perhaps more than the first two.

In fact I red it in Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The story of a girl who is the eighth "son" of an eighth son which when she is born a wizard passes her his powers thinking she would be a he, but with this, the first female wizard can be a possibility which, of course, is neither accepted by women or men, so when her powers start to show, a witch takes care of her education and tries to make her a good witch, but her powers are far more powerful than an usual witch, so the witch decides to take her to the Wizards' University so she can control her full power.

The wizard masters laugh at her, but finally the magic prevails and forces them to accept her.

Will the next book continue this story? Who knows, I'll sure read it.

Fafhrd y el Ratonero Gris 4

Novembre extrany, amb el tancament de gimnasos cantat veient com la gent es prenia com un joc la perillositat del virus, en fi, als polítics inútils es van inventar el confinament municipal de cap de setmana, sembla que les imatges de gent omplint les muntanyes per fer senderisme no els agradaven tant com els han agradat les imatges de Barcelona plena de gent comprant aquest pont del 7 i 8 de desembre...

Però com que els confinaments municipals de cap de setmana deixaven fer esport també pels municipis limítrofs, a mí em va anar bé per aprofitar per sortir amb la bici de carretera amb les carreteres buides, bé, gairebé buides, però un plaer passar per rotondes que normalment fan molta por, sense haver de passar por.

I resulta que tenia un llibre a mig llegir d'aquest estiu, és la poca lectura - és un dir, perquè les hores que he llegit com sempre de blogs al kindle, són hores de lectura reals i moltes - que vaig dedicar al novembre.

El llibre en la línia amb els anterior, aventures fantasioses per passar l'estona que era del que es tractava, en aquest cas la pujada a una muntanya amb uns enemics invisibles i l'encarrec de protegir a dos prínceps a sota terra són les dues aventures, podria ser que l'aventura dels 2 germans, el noi que no podia sortir de casa i veia el món a través dels ulls de la germana era d'aquest llibre o de l'anterior, el recordo d'estar a la platja llegint-lo, així que podria ser d'aquest llibre.

Arcanum unbounded

 Couldn't wait to read this book with different stories in the Cosmere universe of Brandon Sanderson.

I hardly remembered the first three books of the Mistborn trilogy when I red the next three books, it didn't matter much as they where more adventure in the same world than a conclusion, because the first three where well finished. But in this book I've finished now, it seems that under the ground, or what is called the cognitive world... Keller is alive? WTF... Will I have to read again the first Mistborn trilogy to catch what is going to come someday?

Well, it doesn't matter... I've enjoyed other new worlds of powers and good characters in this book, so worth the money.

Bad Blood

 A wonderful real life story of a Start-Up where you can see how 2 mad people can cheat everybody for a long time, making them give you huge amounts of money without showing them nothing else than a show of good intentions...

Well, after I've written this I remember homeopathy, astrology, and well, perhaps it's easier than that, but well, no... homeopathy and astrology steal little amounts from many people while the fund raiser in this story stole millions of dollars to rich and (supposedly) intelligent investors...

It's a very good book and everyone should read it, it's sad how some people can play with the health of the people but it's clear that this families with good contacts can and do what they want, no matter who suffer with their ambition games.

Shards of honor by Lois MCMaster Bujold

 A little science fiction between so much fantasy in my beach reading this summer, I forgot to write the post when I finished it so I do it now before I write the post of the last book I've read.

I knew it was in the Falling Free world so I expected something about having 4 hands and no foots, but no, it's a love history in the middle of a war of worlds. I know it is part of a saga about Vorkosigan, so I hope to read the next books of the saga to know if it's a saga(I discovered that a saga implies different generations of a family, so Dune is a saga but not The Lord of Rings)...

Per cert, avui ha estat un dia divertit esportivament parlant, he pogut sortir en bici de carretera al migdia, i després he pogut veure un parell de partits de Roland Garros, gaudir del descobriment que per no tenir ben configurat el Chromecast només vaig gaudir un set contra Wawrinka i que avui ha estat a un pèl de guanyar, perquè desquiciar l'ha desquiciat ben desquiciat a Thiem, al final amb 1,73m d'alçada l'Hugo Gaston no ha pogut guanyar, però ha donat tota una lliçó de tennis a un cannoner com en Dominic Thiem. És d'aquests jugadors que dius, potser ningú no se'n recordarà d'ell d'aquí a uns anys, però jo l'he pogut veure i gaudir d'un parell de grans partits.

A més a més, he vist uns bonics darrers 20km de l'etapa del Giro i els darrers 13km de la Lieja-Baston-Lieja amb final inesperat, quan Allaphillipe estava a punt d'acabar amb la maledicció del maillot arc-iris (copyright ciclismo2005), i ha aixecat els braços abans de passar la meta i Roglic li ha pispat la cartera com manen les instruccions del bon ciclista. Igualment amb el moviment poc net que ha fet que a Hirschi se li sortís el peu del pedal, i que ha fet que penalitzessin al nou campió del món, el resultat hagués estat el mateix, en quant al guanyador, però el que hem rigut...

I com no, les curses de Superbikes, amb el superman Jonathan Rea, que per un cop no ha acabat al podi, però ha donat espectacle i deixa la celebració del Mundial per la darrera cursa. Com a MotoGP li doni per ploure a Le Mans... no recordo si Quartararo va bé en aigua...

Oathbringer

 What a wonderful August holidays, beach and a good book, Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar and company always fighting with their own internal battles while the world outside is getting mad so they have to fight also the real world battles.

  While I wait for the next book, I've bought the Arcanum Unbounded, so I'll have some more cosmere stories to read between the books I've already started.

This week seems autumn is calling at the door, but I hope warm weather will return in time to not let the beach water become cold enough to make me not want to swim with few people on the beach like yesterday.

Covid is still giving me the chance to work remotely all the week, who misses the train? Not me.

Fafhfr y el Ratonero Gris 3

 Esta vez a través de una cueva que debe tener un agujero de gusano (guiño, guiño, stargate, Los 100), los dos personajes aparecen en la Europa medieval para vivir un periplo que les hace conocer la historia de una chica misteriosa que en la parte final del libro les va explicando su historia mientras viajan, con lo cual cual Don Quijote de la Mancha, vemos como dentro de la historia de los dos protagonistas, el autor nos cuenta otra historia en la que ellos solo están involucrados en su desenlace.

Weird book recommended by a job partner... well, what can I say...

If you do like books of nonsense, ilogical or improvability... you'll like it.

Had I ever read a book like this? Perhaps "Sin noticias de Gurb", another book with good reviews I don't know why.

Well, it seems that I need to find a new source of interesting books, because I'm getting stacked in a very narrow kind of books. 

Warbreaker

And the next book added to the show.... Warbreaker which Brandon Sanderson published for free in it's website to show the process of writing and pulishing a book. I liked it very much.

More strage powers, great story by Hoid, religion, great characters and tension and action.

What more can you expect from a book?

Elantris

It was not posible waiting another month to read another Brandon Sanderson book, so I started and devoured this one.

I liked it so much that I couldn't help to start Warbreaker as soon as I finished Elantris and the tale A story of Elantris.

Well, I think my reading this year will be called the Brandon Sandersoon's year...

The book is very good and I've enjoyed very it very much, Hoid doesn't tell any story here, and after the years passed since the Mistborn trilogy, I don't remember if Hoid appared there.

I have to by the Arcanum Illimitated before reading the third of the Stormlight's books.

Armas, gérmenes y acero

Entre tanta ficción leer un libro de historia tan interesante vale la pena.

Gracias a la gran serie de artículos que Sergio de ciclismo2005.com, ha escrito sobre la pandemia, en su blog de política, los cuales he devorado junto con los comentarios (los comentarios de ciclismo2005, hace tiempo que me quedé sin tiempo para poder seguirlos... qué tiempos aquellos la década de los 2000, la edad de la pérdida de la inocencia +1 gratis), descubrí este libro.

Es una pena que los racistas no lean, porque este libro les haría reflexionar.

A mí me ha servido para, aparte de entretenerme, poder acostarme cada noche "sabiendo una cosa más" muchas algunos días...

Como aficionado a Star Trek, uno piensa en la primera directiva y se imagina si se hubiera aplicado en la Tierra, cuando un pueblo más avanzado se encontraba con un pueblo con un nivel de desarrollo muy menor. Ahora mismo tendríamos, países temáticos que podríamos vigilar vía satélite, sin influir en su desarrollo, viendo como evolucionan a su propio ritmo aunque por otra parte, negarle la posibilidad de mejorar sus vidas siendo relativamente sencillo, también da que pensar. Pero la realidad es que casi todas las veces que se han encontrado civilizaciones mucho más avanzadas con otras mucho menos avanzadas, voluntaria o involuntariamente, las han diezmado o acabado con ellas.

Es un tema muy interesante, la verdad. Con las de partidas al Age of Empires que hice en su día, donde o masacrabas o te masacraban... igual sí que tenía bastante claro de qué ha ido siempre el tema en este planeta.

Obsequium: Un relato cultural, tecnológico y emocional de La Abadía del Crimen

Hacía bastante desde que compré el libro y lo había leído entre libros, pero hacía meses que no lo tocaba, me quedé en el trozo que hablaban de temas muy técnicos y hoy lo he vuelto a coger y lo he acabado.

Sigo teniendo pendiente dedicarle unas horas a jugar al juego, de hecho hace mucho que no juego a ningún juego de ordenador.

Un paso adelante y dos para atrás

Cuando la Generalitat aprobó la nueva ley de la vivienda, me puse muy contento con el tema de obligar a alquilar los pisos vacíos.

Ahora resulta que es inconstitucional.

Así que me huelo que todo quedará en aguas de borrajas y los jóvenes tendrán que seguir vendiendo su libertad a cambio de un techo, la nueva esclavitud.

Yo creo que hay alternativas, pero los políticos son vagos por naturaleza y caraduras por vocación, así que soy pesimista.

Mi propuesta es simple: Impuestos por las nubes por cada vivienda en propiedad y una rebaja equivalente al impuesto de UNA vivienda en la declaración de la Renta, con lo que las personas no se vean perjudicadas por tener su vivienda en propiedad y sí por tener más de una vivienda cerrada (puesto que si la alquilan, con el alquiler ganarían mucho más de lo que pagan en impuestos por esa vivienda). Y si fueran los Ayuntamientos los beneficiarios de dicho impuesto, acabaríamos con la problemática de la financiación municipal, que dejaría de depender de la venta de suelo municipal y de los permisos de obras. También los municipios turísticos podrían rebajar ese impuesto para incentivar el turismo de segunda residencia, así cada ciudad podría elegir su modelo residencial.

En fin, yo aporto mi propuesta, la crítica constructiva debería ser una forma de actuar más utilizada.

Brazales de duelo

Aunque justo antes comencé a leer un libro muy interesante sobre plagas y la evolución de las sociedades humanas, he ido alternando historia con ficción y al final como no, la ficción ha sido más adictiva y he acabado antes el que yo creía que era el último libro de una trilogía.

Al final resulta que aún queda otro libro para acabar la saga, pero todavía no está escrito, así que paciencia.

El libro como todos los que he leído de su autor..., acabo de ver en mi lista de posts que llevo unos cuantos seguidos..., es adictivo y tiene mucha acción, así que no se aburre uno ni un momento.

Así que.... creo que ahora alternaré el libro de las plagas con las aventuras de Farad y el Ratonero Gris, antes de embarcarme en el tercer libro de la saga de las Tormentas, más ahora que sé que serán 10 libros y aún no está publicado el cuarto... con lo que mola...

Y ahora mismo revisando también mi lista de libros leídos, he caído en la cuenta que ya no podré leer ningún libro nuevo de Carlos Ruiz Zafón, una pena, ya releí L'ombra del vent abans de llegir el Presoner del Cel, i suposo que algun dia rellegiré Marina, que em va encantar, serà una bona lectura per llegir a la Costa Brava.

Sombras de identidad

Quinto libro de la saga de las brumas de Brandon Sanderson, la verdad es que es un poco frustrante no recordar bien los tres primeros libros, en el cuarto, es más en plan aventuras con un poco de alomancia y ferruquimia por lo que no había frustración, pero en este...

se hacen tantas referencias al pasado, el superviviente, la guerrero ascendente, el último emperador, Armonía, Ruina, los kandras, los koloss... con lo que me gustaron esos libros y que apenas me quedaran en el recuerdo Keller, Vin, la alomancia, el atium, los inquisidores y sus clavos, el mayordomo terrisano de Vin (Armonía)... miedo me da el día en que aparezca el tercer libro de El nombre del Viento... solo recordaré que tenía un banjo...

En fin, el libro mola, pero es un valor añadido el que no haga mucho tiempo desde la lectura de los tres primeros libros de la saga.

Words of radiance

Say the words Kaladin.

I couldn't wait to know what would happen after The way of kings so I started immediately the second book of the saga.

Without surprise, the book was more and more addicting, so I enjoyed it like a child.

The third will have to wait a little, because I've read another book and knowing the third is the last published at the moment, I'm a little scared to read it and having to wait long before the fourth.

The way of kings by Brandon Sanderson

I saw the novel was from 2010 and I thought it was time to start reading this new saga.

The book is long, but once you get into the story, it is more and more addicting, Kaladin, Jasnah, the powers, the history, the fights, the slavery, the war, the medicin, the technologies.... it's all, I could not stop reading...

so I started the next book as soon as I finished this one...

Espadas y demonios

Hace unos meses que no escribo por aquí, pero no he dejado de leer, así que dosificaré los libros de post en post.

Este libro lo empecé porque estaba un poco harto de empezar sagas que no estaban finalizadas, así que me cogí esta que tiene 5 libros y me dará para un tiempo.

El libro explica la historia de Fafhrd y el Ratonero Gris, dos sinvergüenzas que en este libro no son tales pues diríamos que es su presentación en sociedad, como dos jóvenes con ganas de vivir y con un amor de juventud llegan a la ciudad procedentes de lugares con constumbres diferentes, en ambos casos la brujería está en su contra y les hace huír de su lugar de origen.

Una vez en la ciudad el azar los une y viven una aventura que les unirá más.

Aleación de ley

Sinceramente echaba de menos las batallas alománticas, no recordaba la ferruquimia y mira por donde aquí el autor se marca un mezclar personajes con alomancia y ferruquimia.

El libro es una especie de novela policíaca, un poco tipo western, se lee rápido y se disfruta si te gusta el mundo brumoso. Incluso da ganas de volver a leer la trilogía inicial de nuevo.

Lo compré para el viaje en avión a Cuba, y al final en el avión no leí mucho, así que me lo leí ya en casa aprovechando los días de fiesta en fin de año.

Green Mars

Second book of the Mars trilogy, it is very long and sometimes has too many politics, so I had to read seversal books since I started this, but well, it's a good book, perhaps with not much physical action, but life is like this.

The life expansion treatment allows to have the same main characters, but in the book new important characters appear like Art, Nirgal or Praxis president, if I'm not wrong, West.

I'll have to read Blue Mars to complete the trilogy, I think I will start it in Summer.

La música del silencio

El hambre de querer leer más historias del mundo de "El nombre del viento" me ha hecho comprar y leer este libro que, el autor ya avisa de primeras, que puede que no nos guste y que quizás requiera varias lecturas para saborearlo, de hecho es corto y no es descartable.

Es un relato sobre una semana en el submundo donde vive Auri, a la espera de la visita de él...

Well, second book of this saga, quite good, clarifies some things unexplained in Palladins of Souls and I'll look for the next one.

Discworld: The colour of magic

Years reading a blogger called Rinzewind and finally I've known where he got his name.

I had heard about the Discworld novels before, but I asked some job partners about them and they told me to read them.

So I read the first in the beach this summer, it is very fantastic and strange.

I'll read the second, but I'll read other books before.

Palladins of souls

Another Nebula winner that I read without making sure it's a part of a saga, I noticed it early in the book but the story seemed consistent enough to be read without having read the previous book, do I decided to go on with it.

It's a fantasy book based in the feudal and cavalry age, with magic, I liked it so I'll read the previous book whom I already know things like the fate of the main character, but it can be interesting.

Time passes here so quickly... I've been looking for the other Nebula winner book from the author of this book in this blog history, and I see some years have already passed since I red it.

American Gods

Como había visto que existía una serie de televisión basada en el libro, me dio por leerlo.

Es curioso y se lee bien, si le tuviera que sacar alguna moraleja, no podría, por lo tanto lo defino como entretenimiento puro y duro.

Speed of dark by Elizabeth Moon

Bon llibre explicant la història d'un noi autista en un futur on ja s'ha trobat un mètode per tractar els nens que pateixen aquest funcionament diferent del cervell.

En aquest cas el protagonista, ha estat dels darrers que van néixer abans que existís aquest tractament, però en una època on sí van poder ajudar-lo amb altres mètodes que el van poder fer una persona autònoma i amb una feina ben productiva.

En el llibre s'explica des del seu punt de vista com veu el món i les seves dificultats per entendre la gent "normal", tot i així, un empatitza moltíssim amb el protagonista i quan en un moment del llibre arriba la posibilitat d'accedir a un tractament que podria eliminar les seves diferències amb la gent "normal", el lector, en el meu cas, sent la necessitat de prendre part, igual que altres personatges de l'entorn del protagonista que veus que pensen igual que jo.

En fi, m'ha agradat molt el llibre i és molt recomenable.

La part de les classes de lluita amb espasses m'ha fet pensar en la posibilitat d'algun dia fer una mica d'esgrima, és un esport molt guai.

Darwin's Children

Second book of the saga, it promised but it really gives not much interesting news about the subject.

A little disappointing, but, well it's read and now it's time to read another book.

Forever Peace

Curiós que anys després d'haver guanyat el Nebula amb Forever War, guanyi el mateix premi el mateix autor amb un títol tant semblant.

En aquest cas, no hi ha guerra, però hi ha uns quants que volen acabar amb la guerra, ho aconseguiran?

Bon llibre, potser l'acció del final és massa peliculera, però què hi farem.

El contrato social de Rousseau

Lo he leído por curiosidad y está bien ver que hay gente que expone sus ideas sobre como sería un buen sistema para conseguir un buen funcionamiento de la sociedad.

Yo siempre he pensado que la base de toda sociedad próspera es la educación, cuanto más conocimiento tienes, más fácil darte cuenta de que el bien común redunda en beneficio propio más que cualquier otra cosa.

Haber estado en países como Brasil, donde la gente de cierto poder adquisitivo (no hablo de millonarios), tiene que vivir con rejas en sus edificios, me reafirma en mi opinión.

La idea de que el hombre es egoísta por naturaleza, no la negaré, pero conseguir el bien común puede ser un objetivo que puede conseguirse por egoísmo también, ¿no es mejor vivir en un mundo en que todos podemos vivir bien?

Darwin's Radio

Last Nebula Awards winner of this year, I'm near to finish the pack I got some years ago, but until I read the 2018 winner, I think I have still lots of winners left.

This one is about genetics and human evolution, a new turn of clock to Darwin's theory, it's science fiction, so the idea is quite interesting, knowing the little time we have in this world it would be nice to see things like the explained in the book, well if you are not one of the first ones to suffer the xenophobia that always appears against anything new and difficult to understand.

This year I haven't read many books, perhaps too much blog posts, and too much Twitter, whose better definition I read about was "Facebook is the network of the friends you already have, and Twitter is the network of the friends you'll like to have".

About this year, what can I say, I lost my income base only months after having achieved my long time work to achieve it. I've had to return to be an employee to not go bankrupt. I'm a better dancer than last year. I've lost contact with most of my friends. As I'm older things get worse as it was supposed to be, sad to say that.

Parable of the Talents by Octavia E Butler

I read this book because it's another Nebula Awards winner, I didn't check if it was part of a saga, I've just discovered it, so as far as I can tell, you can read the book which is the second of the saga and not miss the previous book.

It's a good novel of a distopian future where the US have collapsed and a christian fundamentalist movement reach the power and enslaves those they don't like. Torquemada's inquisition back in the 21st Century, it's easy to imagine for those who live nowadays in Catalonia and see how those christian inquisitors are still in their chairs ruling Spain.

So I would recommend everyone this book, as a reminder of what can happen if we choose rulers who don't invest in education.

Salem's Lot

Una assignatura pendent que tenia era llegir algun llibre d'Stephen King, com que cada cop que fan Cadena Perpètua la torno a veure, vaig escollir un llibre que també té peli, però que no havia vist.

En realitat, sí que he vist moltes pelis que expliquen la història que explica el llibre, és normal tenint en compte que és dels anys 70, del 75 concretament, un gran any, on tot va quedar lligat i ben lligat...

En fi, que el llibre és entretingut, per previsible que sigui, és una bona lectura i per tant recomenable.

Ja estem liquidant l'any, encara no som independents, la gent té altres prioritats, el futbol i el reguetón.

La bombolla del lloguer està fent que tornem a tenir bombolla immobiliària i amb el petroli pujant, això petarà més d'hora que tard.

La meva tornada al món laboral d'aquest any, ha estat menys traumàtica del que es podia esperar, després d'haver tocat el cel amb les mans i pensar que ja era lliure per poder gaudir del temps que em quedés fent les coses que m'agradessin quan em vinguessin de gust, però baixar la guàrdia té aquestes coses, la cagues i tornar al punt de partida pot ser dur. Paciència, tot arriba si es fan les coses bé.

Avui han dit que el pantà de Cànoves està a tope, estaria bé agafar la bici i fer una passejada demà, és una de les coses que he trobat a faltar aquest any, tot i què, l'any passat tampoc no vaig utilitzar-la tant com hauria d'haver fet amb la quantitat de temps lliure que vaig tenir.

En fi, a mirar endevant, les cagades són experiència i la frase que hauria de tatuar-me és "Rich or right, choose rich".

Ara que penso, primer any que no he vist cap cursa de Fòrmula 1 en molts anys, Hamilton ha demostrat que pot guanyar sense tenir el millor cotxe i això li dóna més valor a aquest campionat. Alonso marxa sense pena ni glòria, i és el que té tenir talent, però ser un cregut egocèntric envoltat d'una colla de llepaculs que et donen sempre la raó.

Ulises de James Joyce

Después de haberlo empezado hace años y haberlo leído haciendo bici estática en aquellos inviernos soleados, el 50% que me quedaba tras la destrucción de mi kindle lo he liquidado en menos de un mes, eso sí, ese 50% tenía muchos más huecos en blanco que el primer 50%, así que esa ha sido la causa de que en el primer 50% costaba un mundo que se actualizara el % en el kindle y esta segunda parte haya sido más rápida.

El libro en sí, para ser tan famoso, no puedo recomendarlo, un tocho que como Los Soprano, podré poner en mi haber, como leído (vistos Los Soprano), bueno, Los Soprano están mejor... jeje, la historia de un tipo en el Dublín de principios del siglo XX, más que la historia, un día en su vida, visto desde su punto de vista y el final por su mujer.

Un entierro, su trabajo, la compra de una pastilla de jabón, su valoración de su hija, una tarde en el parque mirando a una jovenzuela y una truculenta noche en un prostíbulo, con el paseo a casa con el amigo hecho en el local de alterne.

Ahora a decidir qué libro me leo en el tren, mientras, disfrutando los relatos de Marte del concurso de Radio Skylab.

Las luces de septiembre

Otra buena novela corta de Ruiz Zafón, el fin de la trilogía de la niebla y el último libro que pude acabar con mi amado kindle antes de pisarlo en una sucesión de múltiples casualidades precedidas de el descuido de no preocuparme lo suficiente de mi amado kindle y dejarlo en un sitio que no era el que su cuidado merecía.

En fin, el libro está muy bien y se lee rápidamente, engancha como todos los libros del autor y dado que ya he leído todos sus libros, la Sombra del Viento dos veces, echaré de menos sus historias, a ver si escribe algún otro libro algún día.

Stations of the tide

La verdad es que no me ha gustado este libro, me ha resultado muy confuso y sin un objetivo claro.

La sombra del ciprés es alargada de Miguel Delibes

Recordaba haber leído algún libro bonito de Miguel Delibes y empecé a leer este libro en mis trayectos en cercanías ahora que he reanudado mi vida de asalariado.

La verdad es que es un libro muy pesimista, lo podía haber sospechado por el título, pero bueno, también de vez en cuando se encuentra uno con visiones del mundo curiosas como la del protagonista de este libro.

Mañana probablemente tendré que volver al Cercanías, pero seguramente no podré leer porque parece que a las cabezas pensantes de Renfe, el fin de curso de los niños lo han convertido en "que se jodan los trabajadores que van en tren a trabajar" y han dividido de un día a otro el tamaño de los convoys por la mitad, por lo que nos obligan a viajar de pie y apretujados.

Y la gente sigue votando a gentuza que no ha ido en su vida a trabajar en un cercanías.

Ah, me olvidaba: YO SÍ HE LEÍDO EL QUIJOTE.

Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson

In the month when I got back to the job world I red this book, it has also been the month when ProShares has destroyed my investing and my freedom wishes.

Well, the book, some months ago I watched a TV serie called "Mars" from Discovery Channel which was a kind of documentary of how could be the first human trip to colonize Mars.

Perhaps the TV show was based in part in this book, if not, they could continue the serie with what's on the book because it shows also the voyage, the first stages of the colonization and... what happens afterwards, mostly in Mars but also how all affects to Earth.

It's clear that the author is not very optimistic about human kind, I, as a Trekkie, think that technology will help us to be better as humans but who nows, I live in Catalonia and what I'm seeing, listening and reading in Spanish media is trying to prove me wrong.

It's a good book, looking for the page number I've seen that it's the first of a trilogy, I'll wait some time befere I read the next, I don't want to be depressed in Spring.

Moving Mars

Futuro, colonias en Marte, la Luna, el cinturón de asteroides. Recuerda un poco a The Expanse, pero bueno, no tiene nada que ver y el libro se escribió antes, por supuesto.

O sí tiene que ver, en este caso Marte descubre antes que la Tierra una tecnología que hace que la Tierra se ponga nerviosa y la líe parda, al viejo modo humano de toda la vida.

El libro narra la historia de una joven marciana que se ve envuelta en todo el lío y que durante el libro se encuentra varias veces con la responsabilidad de tomar decisiones por el resto de la marcianidad.

It's a good book, perhaps the concepts of the technology used aren't very clear, but of course it's fiction and it would be a joke if we could explain what we don't know will ever be posible.

Doomsday book by Connie Willis

Un premio Nebula para empezar el año, este está escrito en 1992 y lo tiene todo para que hagan una película basado en él.

Como dicen en Tiempo de Culto, cualquier peli con viajes en el tiempo es un 26% mejor y esta va de un viaje en el tiempo.

Concretamente de una estudiante de historia que viaja a la Edad Media con sus vacunas para el tifus, cólera y peste bubónica, a partir de ahí mejor no cuento nada porque vamos leyendo en paralelo lo que pasa en el pasado y lo que pasa en el presente.

Por suerte en este caso el tema de las paradojas ya lo liquidan desde el primer momento al explicar la tecnología utilizada que evita que se pueda dar cualquier paradoja temporal.

El libro es muy bueno y muy recomendable.

Bueno, en cuanto al nuevo año, seguimos viendo como el fascismo sigue saliendo del armario, ayer el juez Elpidio Silva en un programa de TV3 dijo muchas verdades, pero subestimó el número de fascistas en España, dijo que había 3 millones, pero eso es porque no cuenta a los fascistas que lo son, actúan como tales pero no saben que lo son.

El hereje de Miguel Delibes

¡Cómo las gastaban los reyes de España en el mil quinientos y pico!

Resulta que el protagonista de esta historia era un devoto creyente que tropezó con la doctrina de Erasmo y de Lutero un buen día, y en su ilusa creencia pensó que era más creíble que la doctrina de la Iglesia Católica Romana...

En fin, que se ve que en ese momento coincidían Carlos V y Felipe II ambos vivitos y coleando, a cual más convencido en lo bien que actuaba la Santa Inquisición.

Con los pelos de punta he acabado de leer el libro, cualquiera diría que se parece a lo que vivimos ahora 500 años después.

Pero bueno el libro nos narra toda su vida y no es un rollo sobre religión, así que es una buena lectura.

ProManager: Droga en el quiosco

Al final me decidí por seguir leyendo las aventuras de la gente de Dinamic, es brutal ver como la gente se deja explotar por el simple hecho de estar disfrutando de lo que hace.

Es mi resumen como informático del libro.

En cuanto a mi opinión como antiguo jugador de PCFutbol, incluso de haber sido un aficionado del futbol en general en la época en que triunfó el juego, está claro que los que lo hicieron lo hicieron lo mejor que pudieron y que podrían haberlo hecho mejor si las estrellas se hubieran alineado con cosas como encontrar programadores a los que les gustara el futbol, cosa que no es imposible, pero al final son tantos los factores que provocan que algo funcione o no, que la cuestión es escuchar/leer las opiniones de los que lo vivieron y disfrutar de ello, no tiene sentido ponerse en su lugar.

Después me he leído el primer volumen de Doctor Mente de Ezcritor, de momento está bien, se lee muy bien en el kindle con una letra gigante y bueno, a esperar la siguiente entrega en enero.

Ocho quilates: Una historia de la edad del oro del software español

Más bien es la historia del videojuego español, porque supongo que en esa época debía haber un montón de faena informatizando todas las empresas de España.

Dado que yo llegué al software profesional en el 1997 y mis primeros trabajos tuvieron que ver con el efecto 2000, sé bien que había mucho software hecho en esa edad de oro.

En cualquier caso, ha sido muy bonito leer este par de libros que me han llevado a una niñez en la que conseguir convencer a mis padres para que nos comprara un MSX, que obviamente queríamos para jugar, pero también me sirvió para hacer mis primeros pinitos en BASIC.

Bien es cierto que en mi casa nunca nos dieron la oportunidad de comprar los juegos de los que aquí se habla, a parte del Army Moves, suerte tuvimos de la colección de 100 juegos de Phillips para MSX que se vendía por 10.000 pesetas que conseguimos que nos compraran para Reyes. En esa colección había algunos juegos que no funcionaban con nuestro MSX Phillips, igual era defecto de la cinta.

En cualquier caso, había una buena colección de juegos de Dinamic que supongo que eran los descartados pero que nos dieron buenas horas de diversión y que nos hicieron coger cariño a la marca, así que ya en PC comprarnos y disfrutar del PCFutbol fue volver a revivir esos momentos de juegos "sencillos" pero que podíamos disfrutar en compañía.

Los libros nos transportan a una época en que estaba todo por hacer y en la que si tenías ganas y talento podías llegar a triunfar haciendo algo que te gustaba sin necesidad de grandes inversiones económicas. Eso sí, un niño pobre al que sus padres no podían comprar el primer ordenador ya quedaba descartado.

Lo que sí queda claro en los libros es el daño que el pirateo hizo a esa incipiente industria, el hecho de ser un país pobre con mentalidad de pobre, siempre lastró y seguirá lastrando cualquier iniciativa que tenga como mercado principal el mercado español, si quieres triunfar, tienes que mirar más allá de la frontera como objetivo.

Y es que cuando vives con un sueldo de mierda, es normal que el pirateo te parezca una forma apropiada o la única forma para acceder al ocio.

P.D. Estos dos libros los he leído gracias a esas ofertas que hace amazon para kindle, nunca podré estar los suficientemente agradecido a amazon por haber inventado el kindle.

Rama revealed

¡Chof! Se acabó la saga de Rama con un final digno del Código da Vinci... vale que la premisa era muy ambiciosa, pero acabar el libro hablando de ciertos temas que deberían estar ya más que superados es un poco triste, más para un libro de ciencia ficción, es ciencia ficción, imagina y plantea alguna hipótesis interesante, no me vengas con cuentos de dioses y juegos de azar.

El libro bien podría acaba con la música de Queen que usaron para Los Inmortales, "Who wants to live foreeeeeveeeeer...", pues eso que los años pasan y la gente se muere, ¡cómo que la gente!, civilizaciones mueren, especies completas sucumben a su propio éxito.

Y total, para qué, para que alguien nos diga que todo es parte de un experimento, que ni siquiera es el una puñetera casualidad aunque en realidad lo que pasa sí que lo es, menuda ida de olla.

Garden of Rama

Seguimos con la historia de la nave interestelar Rama que no deja de sorprendernos, hasta que... llegan los humanos, y claro, los humanos nunca nos sorprenden al igual que España, siempre actúan acorde a lo esperado.

Este mes también he avanzado mucho en la lectura de Ulises de James Joyce, ya voy por el 50%, ahora me tomaré una pausa y ya veremos cuando sigo leyéndolo, de momento este fin de semana no he podido evitar comprarme 3 libros en amazon para mi kindle, así que ahora mismo me debato entre atacar el último libro de la saga Rama (lo más probable) o leerme el primer libro de la saga Doctor Mente de Ezcritor, que al ser corto, no hará que me desconecte mucho del mundo Rama para poder acabar la otra saga.

En fin, que aunque los tenía en el kindle desde hace un tiempo, el hecho de que en Radio Skylab hayan creado un club de lectura, me ha animado a acabarme la saga Rama en menos tiempo del esperado.

Qué tiempos aquellos en que decía, cuántas cosas por hacer y qué poco tiempo, ahora hay tiempo para todo y la lástima es haberme jodido el codo jugando tanto al tenis, pero no hay mal que por bien no venga y he comenzado a aprender desde cero con la izquierda, de momento no va mal y me veo jugando algún partido en un mes como muy tarde.

En cuanto a series, decepcionante segunda temporada de The girlfriend Experience, buen descubrimientos con The Deuce y Better Things, así como Glow.

Para acabar me apunto un par de pelis que me han gustado mucho este mes, "La Vaca" y "Manual de un tacaño".

Este mes hasta he salido de excursión por la montaña.

Yes the Earth is a pale blue dot seen from other planets within our Solar system, the book is a lovely one, with lot of science and philosophy.

It's a shame live is so short and people like Carl Sagan cannot see what he has foresaw in his books, this book talks about the space, the Earth, the future and as I see it, only the science fiction can help some of us to imagine we live the posible future of the human being.

The last weeks have been very worrying here in Catalonia, Spanish regime has awakened the hidden totalitarism that was there waiting for an opportunity to show its worst face. We have also seen that what the European Union was doing to the syrian refugees was no more than an advice to the european citizens about the meaning of human life and human rights to the Union.

Yesterday events with political imprisonments and the coincidence with the Spanish government been given a seat in the Human Rights Comission of the United Nations, makes anyone with a little bit of intelligence see what the world leaders are preparing for the future of humanity.

Perhaps Carl Sagan would not be very happy if he was alive.

Of Mice and Men

Libro corto sobre una pareja de americanos de principios del siglo XX, que viajan de granja en granja para trabajar a cambio de dinero.

El problema es que uno de los dos es una mole física pero con el cerebro de un niño pequeño y no para de provocar problemas al no poder controlar su fuerza.

No está mal, es uno de esos libros que nos hacen pensar sobre el bien y el mal, no siempre quien hace cosas malas es malvado.

Consider the lobster de Foster Wallace

Con el título respeta a las langostas, se presenta este libro que es una recopilación de artículos del autor del libro.

Hace años que lo empecé y al ser artículos extensos pero inconexos, han sido buenas lecturas en cada momento.

Recuerdo que el primer artículo trataba de una especie de Oscars de la industria porno americana, era bastante curioso todo lo que explicaba.

Y por ser los últimos, recuerdo el artículo sobre la gira electoral del precandidato Ross Perot, en la que el autor acompaña la comitiva electoral y nos explica desde dentro como funciona una campaña de este tipo, él hacía de corresponsal de la revista Rolling Stone.

Había otro artículo que hablaba sobre la autosuperioridad que se otorgaban los académicos en el mundo de la literatura, de hecho se autocriticaba por ello.

Y el último artículo como no, el del respeto a las langostas, explicando su visita a una feria anual de la langosta que reúne a miles de americanos un fin de semana en un pueblo costero, donde se produce una auténtica orgía gastronómica basada en la langosta, nos explica como en el pasado la langosta era comida de pobres y la evolución de la langosta hacia ese lujo gastronómico de hoy en día. Y ya puesto en materia, se pone con el debate moral que implica el hecho de meter a un ser vivo en agua hirviendo provocando una muerte lenta y dolorosa, lo cual le provoca un dilema moral.

Sin duda, un libro muy recomendable, de hecho llegué a él gracias a una recomendación en Good Reads de otro bloguero.

Old man's war

Mi otro libro playero también me lo he leído en un plis, es ciencia ficción de la que me gusta, para un friki como yo seguidor de Stargate, Star Trek y Galactica, una novela que habla de batallas en el espacio ya tiene mucho ganado antes de empezar, pero claro, también ese frikismo hace que uno ya haya visto casi todo.

En este caso, el concepto de partida es original, los humanos ya están en fase de colonización del espacio y en los Estados Unidos, sus habitantes tienen la oportunidad cuando cumplen 75 años de alistarse en las Defensas Coloniales, se supone que una vez allí te devolverán la juventud a cambio de luchar en la defensa de las colonias humanas durante un intervalo de 2 a 10 años.

Pese a la promesa, ningún americano ha podido ver si eso es verdad, pero a los 75 años, quien más quien menos, ya hace años que le duele todo, así que muchos se alistan.

El protagonista del libro, nos narra como es el proceso y vivimos con él sus primeros años en la Defensa Colonial, y sí, spoiler, les rejuvenecen e incluso dotan de un cuerpo mucho mejor que el original.

El libro no te deja aburrirte en ningún momento.

Tren a la estación perdida

Tras años de espera, que sinceramente se me han hecho una eternidad, Fuckowsky ha publicado su novela sobre su experiencia en Irlanda.

Con tanta espera me esperaba un tocho con muchísimas historias, pero al final es el previo y los primeros meses en Irlanda, y el epílogo con la llegada del tren a la estación.

Evidentemente no puedo compararlo con su primera novela, ya que yo la leí en su momento en el blog a medida que iba escribiendo los capítulos de una de las mejores historias que he leído, las Memorias de un ingeniero.

Tendré que volver a leerlo porque este segundo libro me ha hecho cambiar el recuerdo que tenía de las historias que contaba en el primero, pero bueno, la verdad es que se echaba de menos leer a Fuckowsky y aunque haya sido breve, es de agradecer.

Esperemos que sea verdad eso que dice en el libro de que quiere ser escritor.

Crystal Express de Bruce Sterling

No sabía a qué me enfrentaba cuando empecé el libro, al final ha resultado ser un libro de relatos cortos o no tan cortos.

Los primeros son relatos futuristas que tienen un hilo común, el hecho de ser historias con 3 facciones, 2 humanas y una extraterrestre.

Luego hay algún relato más fantasioso, en concreto el de la Tienda de magia está bastante bien.

La verdad es que me lo he leído en la playa y ha sido una lectura amena y recomendable.

El laberint dels Esperits

Final de la saga del Cementiri dels llibres oblidats, quart llibre i punt final. La història del Daniel Sempere, del Fermín Romero de Torres i tots els personatges que es van creuar en el seu camí.

L'Ombra del vent me la vaig haver de llegir dues vegades, perquè quan va sortir el Presoner del Cel, ja no m'enrecordava de res, així que vaig decidir llegir-los tots dos seguits.

En aquest cas, tot i les llacunes sobretot el temps que feia que havia llegit el Joc de l'Àngel, la història no demana tant enrecordar-se'n dels llibres anteriors, però s'ha de reconèixer que estaria molt bé haver-los llegit tots seguits.

M'agrada llegir sagues de llibres, però si passes anys entre llibres, és complicat i no ho assaboreixes tant.

Per tant, content d'haver-los llegit i recomenar a qui no hagi començat que ara és el moment, quan saps que ja els pots llegir tots seguits.

Com sempre, el llibre aconsegueix que un no vulgui parar de llegir i, tot i tenir moltes pàgines (jo com que vaig amb el kindle, no tinc ni idea de quantes), te'l llegeixes molt ràpid.
